This is a cute cartoon drawing of the different sounds people make in other languages from kissing, eating and drinking to the sounds dogs, cats or pigeons make.
I thought it was pretty interesting because I did know that some of those words would be different, but what surprised me was the animal sounds. When we make animal sounds, we imitate what that animal sounds like to us, so I thought it was interesting to see how different language interpret those same sounds into different words.
Sounds in other Languages

I think its fascinating how we hear and make different sounds in other languages. I know that here in the U.S. most people refer to the sound of a kiss as "muah" but in South Korea the sound for a kiss is "chu". I really enjoyed reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love that! And it's so cute!!! I know that after watching hours upon hours of anime that now when asked what a cat says I usually respond with "nyan" instead of meow. Still! That's really cute and interesting!
ReplyDeleteI never really thought much about that! It would be interesting to looks more into and see how we all perceive the same noises. And I'm not sure that you could have chosen a better or cuter cartoon! Haha.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see how many variations there were. You would think some of those sounds would be universal but they are not.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because when I had french in high school, our teacher told us that animals make different noises. Onomatopoeia is different in a lot languages.
