Blog 8 - Dying Languages

I actually found a website this week that is completely dedicated to the preservation of endangered languages. It is set up so that speakers of that language can post audio clips, videos or even documents written in that language. According to the site, many of these languages are still at risk of being lost by the turn of the century. It makes me sad to think that with all the resources we have in the world at this point in time, we are still unable to share enough of these endangered languages to keep them alive.

This is a Video of Woman Speaking Taa that I found on that website. There are many more videos from different languages.

  1. That is a good idea for a website. I agree, I think it's sad how many languages are endangered. That video "The Linguists" made me feel so bad for some of those speakers who think their language is only bringing them down.

  2. I think that it is a pretty neat idea for the website to contain all that it can to preserve the languages that are dying.

  3. Thanks for sharing, it an amazing idea to keep some part of the languages alive that are dying. Even though some other dying language don't have the technology to keep their language.

  4. Hi Jennifer, this is a really interesting website. It's cool that its dedicated to dying languages. Looking at the map of all the languages that are in danger and at risk is rather sad, there is so many!

  5. I actually love this idea. I think it is so awesome the way that technology advances can help people. Imagine if this was accessible to generations past! We could have saved so many languages or at least kept them a little bit longer. This website can also be good for people interested in learning languages. They may be able to learn from this, and be in contact with people who can aid them in learning more of and about the language.
